Willow Room- MWF class

We read "Are you my mother?" by PD Eastman

We asked the children to tell us something they like best about their Mother?

We fingerpainted, and we are creating a special gift for our Moms.

We painted doilies to turn into flowers.

We are practicing songs to sing for our Mother's Day program.

We made a chart with all the letter R words we could think of.

We looked at our caterpillars.

Maple Room- morning class

We read a story called "Where does the butterfly go when it rains?  by May Garelick

We did a special project for Mother's Day.

We had butterfly shapes at the easel.

We practiced our songs to sing for our Moms at our Mother's day party.

We did letter Y activities and we did the estimating jar.

Maple Room- afternoon class

Where does the butterfly go when it rains? by May Garelick was our story today.

We did "Two little blackbirds", "couch potato pokey", "there was a little turtle who lived in a shell" for music time today.

We painted coffee filters to make butterflies
We had paint and brushes at the easel.

Oak room; Pre- k class

We read "The foolish tortoise" by Eric Carle  and
Happy Pig day" by  Mo Willems.

We painted with green watercolors on a paper plate.  The we added shapes with stampers all over it.  We will turn the plate into a turtle with its shell.
Turtle was made by painting the paper plate green with watercolors, and then adding shape stampers on top.

We did "Two little blackbirds", couch potato pokey, and there was a little turtle who lived in a shell for music time today.

We are making sand.  You put shells, rocks and water in a container and shake it up, the little pieces that break off are sand.  Sand is made by the shells and rocks getting turned over and over in the oceans, rivers and lakes.

Stay & Play:

We read "Not Norman- A goldfish story" by Kelly Bennett

We pressed a letter shape stamper on a sponge that was very wet.  Then we pressed it onto "bleeding tissue paper" that was placed on white paper.  When we lifted it up, the letter was on our paper! Make sure you use tissue paper that "bleeds the color"; much of the tissue now is made colorfast.
We used the letters in our name.

Great alphabet stampers with handles work well for this project. A sponge that is very  wet to press the stampers  onto first.

We cut tissue paper into small pieces and put it on the paper.

Press the stamper down on the tissue after it is wet and see what happens.

The letters came out great.

We played musical chairs for music time.  When we play musical chairs, we always cheer for the person who didn't get a chair and they become the cheering section.
